Day 233 - Fitting the corners

Steady progress again tonight.

First up was taking advantage of the nice weather. After measurements were taken of the transom well, the sheet of 1/2" marine ply was hauled outside, set on the tailgate of the truck and two strips cut off the end. Everything was taken back inside, the the strips cut to length and test fitted. The corners of the bottom piece were rounded to fit the existing fillets in the corners and the pieces set aside for future work.

Since I was working that area anyways, the piece of aluminum being used to backup the engine bolts and nuts on the lower set of holes was cut to width to fit. As the original plans called for a 2x8 Versalam and I used a 2x10 a wee bit was trimmed off; about 3/4". :-)

You can cut aluminum on the table saw, but it sure does make a mess.

The corner pieces for the front windows were siliconed in place.

Getting rid of the squeeze out is going to be a pain. I need to think about this before I install the straight strips.

More paint in the helm area after some sanding of some previously unnoticed epoxy drips.

And last, more white paint on things and some maroon on the door and the piece of wood for the transom light.

Oh, yeah, one more thing. The side marker lights were attached to their mounting bases. More holes to come for wiring these.
