The three P's of boat building. :-)
Much progress tonight. Errands tonight consisted of collecting my SmartTech gauge and finding out that my motor is hopefully here, and buying a piece of PEX tubing. PEX is the modern day way of plumbing, but the pipe is pretty cool. It's pretty flexible and holds its' shape when bent. A 20' piece was purchased to use for running the control cables through for the shifter/throttle. Which leads into the domino of projects done tonight.
Started by doing some wiring. A ring terminal was crimped on the positive wire and a quick-disconnect on the ground wire that goes to each tank fuel sender. Now the fuel sender won't be used as the engine and smart gauge compute fuel flow, but you never know, so it got wired. Plus the ground wire is used to drain static electricity, so it has to be hooked up anyways.
After the three tanks were done, some more loose parts got installed. The small piece covering the tank sender access hole in the rear deck was attached with 3M 4200. And the fixture that covers the center tank fuel fittings was installed with 4200 in all the joints and two screws with finish washers just because. :-)
That extra screw and washer will be pulled in a couple days after the 4200 has set up. I'd forgotten about that boo-boo on the right side of the picture, they gap will have to be filled.
More wiring work was done with the excess power wire that had been at the front of the boat pulled to the back. Then the main engine wiring harness was pulled from the front to the back. I'm leaving the slack up front right now as that is where it will be stored and what's needed to get to the engine will be pulled to the back when the engine is installed. I'm very glad that 2" PVC was used, much less than that and that huge fitting on the end wouldn't have fit! More things will be pulled in that conduit, so it'll be full.
Then the holes for the PEX tubing was drilled. Six in all; one in the back of the captains seat, one in the fuel tank bulkhead, one in the rear cabin wall, two in the side supports and one in the starboard battery bay. None of the holes really line up, the flexibility of the PEX lets me get away with that.
Finally, more painting as usual, but that's winding down. The helm area, the backside of the switch panel, some areas in the galley, the new holes, the galley counter top, the door and the rear transom light.
The location for the gauge has been figured out too. It'll go upper left of the steering wheel. Need to by an appropriately sized hole saw for it though.
